This Historically important Jewish Police Pocket Whistle* found lately, lead to much research which sheds light on a dark period in Poland during world world II and Nazi regime in Warsaw.

over a Star of King David Symbol.
The Jewish Police in Ghetto Warsaw had 2500 Jewish Policemen.

The was a Jewish organization named Hapoel and I still had not deciphered the
its connection to its history. A matter for further research.
It may suggest the owner was a Member of the Hapoel organization, and members of ‘Hapoel’ were recruited to the Jewish Police. ) Hapoel was a Sport Organization Est. 1920 and its Warsaw Club est. 1933.
The whistle has a classic German cut shape to side, and hand cut pea.
In 1939, German authorities began to concentrate Poland’s population of over three million Jews into a number of extremely crowded ghettos located in large Polish cities. The largest of these, the Warsaw Ghetto, collected approximately 300,000–400,000 people into a densely packed, 3.3 km2 central area of Warsaw.

SŁUŻBA PORZĄDKOWA Is the tittle of a book by Aldona Podolska
‘Describes the activities of the Jewish Ordnungsdienst, founded in the
Warsaw ghetto in 1940, which functioned up to the ghetto uprising in April
- Asserts that the inhabitants of the ghetto called it the “Jewish police”,
but this designation overestimated its role and competencies. States that
through this Ordnungsdienst, the Nazis facilitated their own tasks and gave
something of a feeling of security to the people in the ghetto. Describes
the organization of the Jewish administration before and after the
foundation of the ghetto, the founding of the Ordnungsdienst, and the
organization of its leadership. Presents their functions from 1941 to July - They had to deal with children on the streets, guard the entrance to
the ghetto, and contend with smuggling. They were not armed. In 1942,
the policemen participated in organizing the deportations; at this time
some of them quit. Analyzes excerpts from various memoirs which deal
with the role of the Jewish police in the Warsaw ghetto.
(The last chapter deals with the postwar fate of policemen, and the point of
view of Israeli law towards them)
- Pocket whistle is a term I made up few years back to describe Escargot – Snail – Referee whistle which were made with no loop or Knop for lanyard and were pocket held.
