Whistle Types & Models
Previously it was thought that Gaunt made mostly Cased Beaufort whistles for military use (See pict.) but as I found out he was a maker of many types and one of the first manufacturers to make button type Escargots london type escargots .
His catalog of the 1880s shows a large array of proffesenal type whistles Including
Double end composition whistle, Flat vesta Bosun whistle, a Cylinderical two note ( G.S.W.), and more.

Notingham city police button type whistle Model B412 by J.R.Gaunt and Son Ltd. Birmingham.
While It was only logical to assume that button whistle makers as Dowler & J. R. Gaunt as few others were also makers of Button type whistles This was the earliest one I actually found in a catalog showing some various models of his.
Two notes cylinderical whistle (G.S.W.) model B407 as shown in J.R.Gaunt & Son's catalog.
