Whistle Museum takes a summer vacation for "renovations", and thanks the warm appreciative and helpful emails from visitors.

The note below is exactly two month old ,
I hope to be back soon with much more info and many more whistles , meanwhile I reduced the number of categories from over 70 to a more basic devision ,
which means each category includes more entries.
I hope to keep the cleanup job with tags as well .
I am still looking for the best solution available here.
Hopefully I will have it in better order soon
and work on some articles about how whistles
can be categorized in the group of  small  aerophones.

Meanwhile I appologize to all the kind people who contacted
with comments and question and I will answer all soon.
As some request further research ( Mr. Slideman) .

Again I greatly appreciate the interest, questions and comment are very welcome .

See you soon.

I would like to personally thank the the visitors  and collectors for showing
much growing   interest  (from 1000 entry view in January to 9000 each month in may and  June) and help with contributing pictures and knowledge which is a pleasure and reward for time I had put into research and publishing notes for the benefit of all.

It is a 'labour of Love' .

May the 'Whistle Appreciation Society ' continue to grow in quest of knowledge and research.

Meanwhile I am taking a summer break, and will not post new entries for a while.
But ! would be glad to hear from you collectors and recieve more information about
whistles.
I humbly thank again the ones who send invaluable pictures catalogues and information so far.

Best Regards

Avner Strauss
whistle researcher and curator.

P.S Meanwhile we would still be working at our daily job...

Hi Avner -- I'm a (relatively) new whistle collector. I only collect bird figural whistles and ocarinas (but I cheat sometimes, and pick up a non-bird figural), and began with new ones. These are mostly made of clay: many talented potters in this world. Lately I've begun to collect older ones. I can find little to no information regarding these. Do you know of any organisation or book that could provide information, or collectors that like bird figurals and who could help with questions regarding any piece that I may find? For instance, I've found German made souvenir whistles, and would like to date them. I love your site, have bookmarked it, and intend to visit many more times. I intend to put my collection up on my site, and will let you know when it's there.

    Regards, Deborah
