Nickel plated brass,
Professional Beaufort with a GSW shape mouthpiece, high quality original shape and design,
Data; L; 88.2 mm, Top Dia. 19.21, Top Ball diam.;10.90 mm,
M.P .dis 13.43 mm M.P opening; 7.37 mm.
large windows, Dia., 8.88 mm W; 46.5 gr.
Pitch; E and G notes, 3 semi tones apart.
wedged diaphragm. one piece cast top,
unibody, mouthpiece and body are made of one piece .
The whistle was made one year after the company had moved to the new adress at Chicopee Falls ,Mass.

While most beaufort whistles are found without mouth piece - the the mouth piece being a continuationtion of the general conical shape, Beaufort whistles with a GSW mouthpiece are rarer .
this one has a mouthpiece, the narrower side was pressed to have a GSW looking mouthpiece.
The whistle certainly shows great craftmanship's skills of U.S.A whistle manufacturing at an early date.
It sheds some light on U.S.A whistle makers when the focus is usually on British made.
U.S.A made Beaufort whistles, there are very few known , perhaps just two the other being a short cast one I attribute to B.G.I because it appears in various catalogs since 1876 until late 1880's along with other whistles made by B.G.I , scarce but met with here and there. Hope fully to be discussed soon.
